The Missing Slate, future (hopeful) art and literary journal extraordinare has published its maiden issue showcasing talent from right here in deviantArt, including some talented illustrators. Our spotlight artist is Babar Moghal and featured fiction/articles includes Omri Luzon and Gareth Trews while our featured poets include T.J. Garcia, Iskara Valentine and Mike Berteux. So if you haven't checked out the first issue, do so at www.themissingslate.com and for the more awe inspiring (hopefully) print version, check it out here: issuu.com/themissingslate/docs….

Peruse it at your own pace and let us know how we did. Liked it, didn't like it, etc?

What would you like to see in subsequent issues? If the answer happens to be your work, btw, submissions for #2 are open. Submit!
While we gauge interest in the short clip competition, we’re starting a brand new one to run concurrently through each issue’s publication date. Unveiling the TMS desktop background and screensaver competition where artists and photographers can let their imaginations run wild as long as it promotes The Missing Slate in some way. Full credit will remain with the artist and we’ll be doing a special spotlight feature on the best submission’s artist along with links to your past work, running side by side with our current spotlighted artist.

There are no set themes for the backgrounds; you just need to feature the words “The Missing Slate – For the discerning metropolitan” in there somewhere. How you do it, we leave entirely up to you. That’s where the creativity comes in, after all, right?

Send in your work to submissions@themissingslate.com no later than December 1.

Enthrall, amaze, captivate us and you’re golden. G’luck!

:)

PS Don't forget we're looking for a new Spotlight Artist to cover; send in your submissions to the address below.
The Roving Eye team has an idea and as ideas go, it's one of our more ambitious ones. We're planning a little short-clip competition; not a short film, but basically anything that you can put on video and that's creative, works.
  • Short films
  • Music Videos
  • Performances
  • Animation (Flash, stop-motion, hand drawn, heck! Even anime!)
  • Basically, anything creative...

works by us. Formats, how to send them in, deadlines, all of this will be decided once we gauge if there's a substantial enough interest in this and we get more than just a handful of entries.

What we offer you in exchange is simple: a spotlight on you and your work in our next issue. As we move along, we are hopeful we can provide more solid incentives but for now, this is what we've got. Eventually, we would like to provide a platform in helping artists get noticed and distributed, but that's something we're currently working towards and fingers crossed, with the current team and any prospectives still out there, we know we can get there.

Interested?

:)

P.S. If you're interested in getting our updates, we will soon be incorporating an opt in subscription service on our website. Meanwhile, you can be a fan on our FB page (on the right) or follow us on twitter.
